Hot Air Balloon Experience
Today in class we were grouped up with our table and given a challenge.
The challenge was to create a hot air balloon, with limited materials: five
candles, one plastic trash bag, two wooden sticks, razor, and tape. Making an
air balloon worked out great with m group we all shared ideas and gave opinions
being result of such a successful hot air balloon. At first Claudia and I
insisted that the smaller our plastic bag the better, we were wrong our other
teammates idea about using the entire plastic bag resulted great because the
bigger the bag the more it inflates giving it something to lift it
up.
Our designed consisted of only one wooden stick, an entire plastic bag,
mini piece of tape, and five candles cut in thirds. This was a successful design
because it did not push down on the bag since all of the candles were little but
yet created big flames and since the bag was big the flames were not big enough
to burn it. My group proved Claudia and I wrong the bigger the bag the better so
it can be able to lift itself up. Kinetic energy is the reason for this. Kinect
energy is the definition of energy increasing gases increase and allows
particles to move with greater velocity. So the particles the heat release
allows blowing up the bag and making it float and travel.
Scientist and engineers face multiple challenges when trying to create
something from theory. Many because limited supplies and resources. This can
result really difficult because you have to plan your thoughts wisely and be
sure about what steps you are going to take without regretting. Many of the
times you don’t have anyone or have limited feedback, comments, and or specific
answers give to you. Scientist and engineers are people to look up to because
they depend on mostly themselves to make things happen and for us to enjoy. Ex:
bridges materials can be really expensive and if you’re an engineer everybody
counts on you to make it happens so it can result with much
pressure.
