Internship Preparation
Learning Style
According to my results, it states that I prefer quiet and bright environment to work in. I have high self motivation as well as responsibility. And other preference along those lines, I agree with my learning style. It describes me completely. I can look back at this and consider in alternating some habits, in order to become a better student. I scored high on "Wants Authority/Figures Present" even though I am responsible, sometimes I need help or questions answered or else it makes it difficult for me to advance with my work. Now that I am sure that is an issue I will make sure to get all questions answered before I leave the classroom, to prevent falling behind. I also agree with prefers morning, because in the morning I am usually very excited to start my day and learn new things, compared to the afternoon where I become more tiered. Something that really caught my eye was "Prefers Learning Alone" sometimes I follow along and hesitate to ask many questions I have in mind, because of consideration of other students. This can result into a conflict and affect me academically that why my assessment shows I prefer learning alone. Know that I know this, I will do something to change it.
Personality Type
I was categorized as an ESTJ: Extroversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Judgment. This result seems very accurate, it describes and details me as a person and student correctly. It highlights my hardworking, responsibility, and leadership skills; which are my greatest gifts. I enjoyed reading the description of my results because it was as if I was reminding myself the extraordinary student I am. It helped me set personal problems aside and continue with my good grades, something that I was forgetting to do the past weeks. My category, fits for many career and job positions. All career call for a responsible hardworking leader and that is exactly who I am.
Career Exploration
My personality test, determines and defines the leader I carry in me. Over the course of summer I attended a summer workshop called: The Young Women Leadership Program at the Center of Creative Leadership. there I was helped bring out and enhance the leader in me. Looking at all my career choices, they all call for a leader! The careers I disliked and felt were not my type were Actuary and Machine Builder/Assembler. Being an Actuary involves a lot of math I always struggle with math and in order to achieve that position a set of mathematical degrees and skills are required. Machine Builder/Assembler does not interest me at all, because I do not see myself doing that everyday; it would not be a job I would be happy of attending. I was surprised I did not receive a big variety of career choice in the medicine field, which is one of my greatest interest, the medical careers I received were not of my interest. I was glad, and felt like I really knew what I wanted and where I was going when I was no career options in Educational Training, because I have no patience nor interest in working in that field.
The following were the careers I was the most interested in:
Association Manager and Administrator: This is a career that certainly interest me since, I have high interest in leading, and administrating either business, campaigns, organizations, etc. This career calls for a hands on, outspoken extrovert I feel like I qualify for that position. Managing business has always called my attention, because you not only do you learn but the ability to grow and succeed is in your hands.
Amusement and Recreation Establishment Manager: Over the last three months I have been researching on this career because it is something of my interest but I am afraid of the high number of students studying this. I would love to travel around the world and plan events for big corporations like, Cisco, Comic-Con, Coca-Cola, and many others along the line. As well as personal events such as weddings. If you work for a hotel, you are a big contribution to their openings in continents all over the world. It would be an amazing job to travel around the world planning big events. This jobs also calls for many leadership skills.
Political Manager: Political Manager is a combination of many careers of my interest put together. Business administration, public relations, organizational communications, and marketing. Being a political manager is a combination of an Amusement and Recreation Establishment Manager and Association Manager and Administrator. Political science also connects with this field, that involves working with people worldwide and is something that I would not mind doing.

Junior Internship
Mentor: Rachel Amato
The Gary and Jerri-Ann Jacobs High Tech High
861 Womble Road, San Diego, CA 92106-6025 (p): (619)-243-5000
I interned at High Tech High developing a peer counseling program. My four week project
was a success. I trained a total of twelve students to become professional peer counselors. A peer counselor provides resources, support, and measured advice to the counseled individual. Since at High Tech High we do not count with a counselor on site nor a peer counseling program this is an incredible benefit and resource for our current and future students. I had to hold lots of research and professional support to move forward with this project. I personally interviewed a Ray De Lagrave a psychologist and Ms. Lee a high school counselor at Herbert Hoover High School. I also had a phone interview with Nancy a director from NAMNI. I designed activities for next year to serve as ice breakers and help categorize resources to provide. In order to obtain resources I needed for the activities designed I asked High Tech High for a donation of twenty-five journals in order to hold my training sessions. I had to make sure the people I elected to become counselors were counseled themselves so I had them write about their conflict and we discussed and advised among each other.
I had many roles/responsibilities, I was club coordinatoras a club coordinator I took lead on our weekly meetings, provided information and made sure we were moving forward as a group. I was a mentor, Tiffany La, is a freshmen that took part of the 20% project. I assisted her as her mentor. We collaborated our ideas together and set goals for each other. It was my responsibility to gather resources for my group and provide them with professional information and guidelines. The process of my project was clean and professional. I created a survey attached with a personal statement short essay response in order to admit student in to the training. The personal statement prompt asked personal questions and demonstrated the individuals interest. After I had everybody training was next I provided the group with professional guidelines, set role plays, and journals. The conclusion of my internship project was a definite success. We finished with twelve trained counselors, three supportive teachers, committed team members, and a website.

My internship has definitely prepared me for the future and helped me obtain valuable life skills. I gained interpersonal skills, I am able to work well with others, I have become more supportive, I inspire the people that surround me and motivate them, I have developed representing abilities, and learned to accept my responsibilities. Another valuable skill I have developed was management skills. I have learned to take lead, and lead groups, coach, counsel, take responsibility, and authorize. The one skill that has finished developing in me during internship was organizational skills. I lead meetings, held conferences, met deadlines, and maintain a steady group.
This is definitley going to help me in my future years because it has provided me with priceless experience that sets me on an advantage from other people of my age. This has set me on an advantage for college as well because it has helped build relationship with professionals and we have been set to professional working environment. This has benefited me my personal life because it taught me to take care of situations and hold myself together.
