Tiny House Project
The initial of this project was dreamy and fancy. Our thoughts for the kitchen seemed luxurious and ambitious. In order to make the tiny kitchen possible and successful there was a lot of sketching, measuring, brainstorming, and researching. I have to recognize that the process to building the kitchen is hard work on paper before building. Both Nic, Sara, and I held a healthy teamwork relationship. We always seemed to agreed on what benefited our project and limited our ambition. The three of us researched for long hours in order to elect the best materials to use for the kitchen cabinets, countertop, and sink. In order to move forward with the kitchens progress we met with the interior design group, wall installation, appliances and built ins.

Pipet Pointilism ArtOur first mini project was fun, artistic, and it was an intorduction to different tools and methods. The picture to the right shows the crab I drew with a pipet, a tool that is used to obtain exact measurments of chemicals. In biology is a very common tool, and it is very important that we know how to handle it since many chemicals could result expensive and we want to conserve them as best as possible. This wa san excellent method to introduce and familiarize with a pipet.

Life off the LandThis semester we managed to combine spanish and chemistry to create a bilingual ethnobotanical field guide to San Diego native plants. In order to publish this book we had to be familiar with its context so we took numerous hikes around San Diego. This project initiated by studying other plants and making a home remedie poster to learn how to sort our ideas together. This was great practice because it introduced us to the editing and the research process. We wrote a plant description, medicinal use, and cultural significance in spanish and english. This project has been by far my favorite project at High Tech High, because the knowledge it has left me I can still use outside the classroom. Our final book has been a great accomplishment.

Pyro MathFor this project we were given the option to select any shape, figure or object we wanted. We were asked to find the surface area of the entire shape before creating a mold. After creating a mold we were left to decide our color of the final candle. I really enjoyed this project because it was diverse from anything else done in this class. I do believe we could of been given more time and help on our calculations.

Pobreza en America- Poverty in America We were provided with a canvas, paint, and paintbrushes up to that point the world was ours. The only requirment was to express poverty in america beneath our eyes. The possibilities were endless, but I chose a red brick wall a destroyed and dirty american flag ,a wired fence, and an amazing qoute on the flag that I wrote. "Were hungry yet they feed us with speeches full of promised, instead of bowls full of food." It was great seeing other perspective of poverty.

Leyenda Personal After reading the alchemist and his experiences in order to reach his personal legend, everybody was asked to write a personal legend connecting to three or more objects. As shown in my visual my objects were a horse, flower, and a music note which were all incorporated in my personal legend. As a Spanish three honors student I was assigned to read the alchemist in Spanish and write my personal legend in
Spanish as well. At times the book became challenging because it had messages coming from every direction and it was easy to accidentally skip one or two. I really enjoyed this process because it was something different very different from writing a book review instead we utilized the knowledge gained form the book to write a legend. Leyenda Personal |
Hot Air Balloon LabThis was a very fun lab to experience because we really were needed to think outside the box in order to have a hot air ballon. We were provided with limited materials that made this process more exciting. This was a lab that I really enjoyed and I am thankful for because it prepared us for upcoming labs in many ways. L

My partner was Alex Esquivel and together we came up with an alternative for plastic. We created three different kinds of plastic and then tested their strenghts to elect the most convinient one.

Geometric ConstructionsIn geometry class we spend a great amount of time focusing on geometric constructions. With only utilizing a compus an ruler we were designed to create a figure of our interest.Similar to the mandala exept we were free draw a non symetrical figure. I really enjoyed this especially after the symetrical mandala because we were able to use the compus with better grip.

Stop-MotionFor this project we had two options: create a stop-motion or
either choose your own project. My partner and I created a how to make a ham and chesse sandwich. This project went really smooth and calm until the editing process that was our only big challenged we faced; with several help here and there we overcame that struggle and finished our stop-motion. Finally, this was a new experience for me and it will certainly benefit me for future projects. |

Choose Your Own AdventureThis project was very diverse from the rest due to the fact that there was no set topic, so each individual partnership could chose whatever they wanted to teach the whole class. My Partner and I chose Invisible Children. The requirments for this project were very simple:

Dot-Org-Project These past weeks we worked on our website construction, design, links, pictures, and quality. This project called for one partnership to choose a website learn about it, critique it, and re-construct it. The final piece had to be professional and accurate when it came to links; the goal for this project was making the website a whole better one in multiple ways. The most challenging part of this project was making sure all the links were properly linked to the right place, the reason why was because we had to do multiple checks on every page. If I would gain complete this project I would definitely go for flash and as well as gaining experience it would make our website look better. Overall, I am proud of the outcome of our website it turned out really professional, with great color scheme, and information; me and my partner, Araya Komai did a very good job. Plus it was my first time building a website.

Typography The most challenging part of this project for me was saving the file as a pdf and copying it to the v drive because I had to do that a couple of times for it to be the correct file or an actual file it was stressful because I did not want our work to be late because it would not have a chance and participate . I dont think I would do anything differently if I were to complete this project again I loved our “quote” and design. Overall, I am super proud of the fact that I did not have major difficulties with Adobe Illustrator since it was my first time completing a project with it. Finally, I really liked this project and I think our next project should be with AI as well.

Energy Conservation This project was about learning and identifying new ways of reusable energy. We had three paths to take with the project they were all supposed to teach something to the video topics were different according to the one each partnership choose. One of the options was making a video, second was creating a website, and third was putting together a magazine. Me and my partner chose putting together a magazing, the project went well at first but as the days passed due dates were changed as well as expectations that matter uncontroled all of us in many ways for example my problem was procastination. Some challenges I faced was not enough resources or things to be taken pictures of. If I were to do this project again I would create a video and be ahead of due dates.

Energy Consumption Graph For this project me and my project partner picked an appliance we wanted to use we had a variety of options like: computers, cars, heaters, washing machines, AC, light bulbs, microwave, conventional oven, etc. We came to a conclusion we wanted to compare non-efficient washing machines to efficient ones. Our research was based of how much does each appliance cost per month and year after that we compared adn graphed. Our graph shows a data to up to twenty years of usage form efficient and non-efficient. This graph as you can see shows a very diverse outcome due to the fact that the efficient washing machine was costing more per month due to how expensive it is; as you can see the non- efficient washing machine cost per year raise and raise. Overall, I believe this was a good experience but thought their needed to be more to this project more requirmens to make our statistics and graphs more

Inner-Warrior The process of writing about yourself and then concluding those thought/elements was difficult to me because I did not want something that gave it all away, I wanted something that stood by itself and had an enormous meaning and figuring what that something was , was challenging. The technical process to me was the easiest step because the pen tool is something I enjoy using as well as photoshop itself; I remember only difficulty I faced was that the scaner cut my head piece because it was too big. Overall, This week was full of learning experiences and I am looking forward to another week.

Wish You Were Here Postcard The procedures for this project were some very simple steps such as; going on Ms. Maria’s blog , reading and following all of the step by step instructions. This was a very fun, amazing project the reason why it was is because, we got to make a postcard of whatever place we desire or use our imagination and make up a place. My partner and I chose to be creative and make our own place up, we came up with a jungle postcard but we did not list what jungle it was from we just named it jungle. This project challenged my use of photoshop, and I was able to expand my use of the tools in photoshop, such as the layer masking tool, that will become one of the most used tools that I will use through out the times that I use photoshop. I personally find it much easier than using the eraser tool, because you don’t have to go back through 7 steps to redo the eraser mark you just made. Layer masking is much easier and safer than the eraser tool.
Of to the side iis a picture of the ‘Photoshop Work Space: Wish You Were Here Postcard’ final process, as you can see we used more than 7 layers and 2 uses of type tool. My partner and I, we believe to have flowed all of the project requirements. We are both very proud of our work and love the contrast! I hope you enjoy |
Art NouveauThis project was an extremely new empahsis of history, I really feel this was a great project because I had a chance to improve my public speaking. Blog Header
What I did from start to finish for this mini project was: getting the right size of the regtangle so it can be easily transformed into a header, the next steps were really not challenging we just had to create the header and making sure we met all the requirments. After we were asked to type a brief reflection about the project and post up on our blogs with our screen shot. During this project I learned how to use photoshop which was my first time working with this program. What I enjoyed the most during this project was the fact that I could express myself in many ways; some things that express myself and I added to my header was the institute I want to attend after highschool, and some other pictures that reflect my interest. The advice I would give to next year freshmen would be to really put effort and play around with the shapes and tools to get familiar with all of those.Overall I am glad we had this project for the beggining of the semester because I learned alot while completing my header. |
Social Awareness What I did from start to finish in my persectives project was put together a research log, then I got started with my research paper, afterwards I cited my work, and last but finally not least I drew and perfected my political cartoon. Throught this project I learned how to become a better researcher and I put together a twenty-four page research log, im glad I got to master this skill becasue now I can research effectively and my papers will turn out great. What I enjoyed the most was putting my research paper together and I was exited to blow people minds with the statisitcs and facts I included. The advice I would give to next year freshmen in order to be succesful in this project you need to research not two to three days but every day at home and a school because its what is going to put you research paper together. Overall I think this is one of the best projects I have experienced.

Perfect Classroom Our goal for this project was to rearrange our classroom with what we believed was "the perfect classroom." We took measurments of our whole classroom and scale it down for our sketch and arranged the room as desired. I believe all of my team member could of put alot more effort, and time into our project. Overall it was a great learning experience for future projects.
